Info: Long pepper is a flowering vine in the Piperaceae family. It is harvested for its fruits that is typically dried. Long pepper has long been used in Europe before the peppercorns were available. Long pepper is related to the black peppercorn, but it is more pungent and a bit sweeter. Its hot and sweet taste complements cheese dishes, wine sauces, fish and stes. Long pepper can be ground up and tossed on fresh and cooked fruit or added to marinades and soup stocks. It is commonly used in Indian and Indonesian curries and spicy pickles.
