Our Organic Long Black Pepper has a similar taste to common table-top peppercorns, but tends to be more pungent and dominates with a hotter taste. The spice is made up of fruits from a flowering vine, that are picked during their peak growing season, and delicately dried to preserve their robust flavors.åÊThough rarely found in Western cuisines, it can still be found in pickled vegetable mixes in the Indian region, some North African spice mixtures, as well as being used in various Indonesian and Malaysian dishes. Like all of our spices, these all-natural long black peppers have been direct sourced and processed without the use of any harsh chemicals or treatments, and are 100% gluten-free and vegan friendly.

History
The history of long pepper has become clouded by the various interchanging between it and the more commonly found round peppercorns--as such it is difficult to track its details through history. However, we do know that during the 12th century both long pepper and round peppercorns were popular in Europe, with round peppercorns eventually displacing this long variety by the 14th century. Today, the market for round peppercorns represents one of the most widely traded spices in the world, while this variety remains relatively limited.
