Fancy Flavors: Compound Butter

Creamy, flavorful compound butter - lovingly called “fancy butter” - is butter infused with additional ingredients, like herbs, spices, nuts and aromatic liquids. Use these fancy butters to enhance your roasted or steamed veggies, seafood, meat and baked goods and make special occasion meals extra wonderful.

Here are some of our favorite sweet and savory fancy butters to enhance your favorite dishes:

Prep Time: 2 minutes

Total Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients (Cinnamon Honey Butter)

Spread over waffles, muffins or toast for an indulgent breakfast treat.

Ingredients (Honey Lavender Herbal Tea Butter)

  • 1/2 cup organic unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp ground organic herbal tea (honey lavender)
  • 1 tbsp honey

Spread over scones and serve alongside sweet tea party treats.

Ingredients (Italian Herb Butter) 

Tastes great over salmon, roasted veggies, chicken and steak.

Ingredients (Southwest Spiced Butter)

  • 1/2 cup organic unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp Organic Southwest Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
  • salt & organic ground black pepper, to taste

Rub over grilled corn for a slightly spicy summer side dish.


  1. Simply let unsalted butter soften, then whip together with additional herbs, spices and liquids. Reform into a log shape, wrap in parchment paper or plastic wrap and chill until firm enough to be sliced.
  2. Package in kraft paper and attach a decorative label or tag for a lovely gift for foodie friends and dinner party guests.
