Date & Soy Sauce Braised Short Ribs

Total Cook Time: 45 minutes

Servings: 4 servings


For the short ribs:

  • 3 tbsp of oil
  • 20 oz of short ribs / 4 big pieces
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the sauce:


1 - In a hot pot, add oil and start by cooking the ribs. Sear them on both sides, for 5 minutes. Take them out.

2 - Using the same pot, add in the onions. Cook for 2 minutes and then add in the tomato sauce.

3 - Mix nicely and add in the dates, water, soy sauce and season with crushed chili, garlic, ginger and bay leaf.

4 - Lower the heat to medium, cover the pot and gently cook for at least 3 hours. Serve with rice.
