Organic Cloves Whole

Regular price

Spicely Organics' Organic Cloves Whole are the aromatic dried flower buds of the Syzygium Aromatica evergreen tree, known as cloves.  Our organic cloves' powerful flavor is a perfect supplement for savory and sweet dishes and hot beverages, and also pairs well with cinnamon and cumin.

Using at Home

Common in Asian, African and Middle Eastern cuisine.

Organic cloves enhance the flavor of meat dishes, broths, curries, marinades, desserts, and a variety of hot beverages.

To spice up your next broth, add 1 teaspoon whole clove to 4 cups liquid.

Cloves pair perfectly with cinnamon, vanilla, red wine, onions, and star anise.

Health
Aids with digestion, protecting the liver, boosting immune systems, and controlling diabetes-related blood sugar levels.

Fights oral diseases like gum inflammation, provides relief from headaches, and displays aphrodisiac properties.

Benefits

Our all-natural cloves have a distinct flavor that will enhance the taste of savory as well as sweet dishes.

Cloves have been used for medicinal purposes and as a flavoring agent in food for hundreds of years.

History

Cloves are indigenous to Asian countries like Indonesia, India, and Pakistan.

Cloves were found in a ceramic vessel in Syria with evidence that dates the vessel back to the third century BC.

Muslim traders from the Middle East first discovered cloves. The highly priced spice was traded like oil. The traders made their way to the Arab Peninsula and from there to Africa and Europe.

Europeans like the Portuguese and the Dutch took turns to seize control over the spice trade in South East Asia and several wars waged over the control of the Indonesian Maluku islands.

The Dutch emerged victorious in the 16th century and held the Maluku islands for the next three hundred fifty years.
