Using at Home

Add leaves to cooking liquids as you would with other bay leaf varieties.

Add a few California bay leaves to your next pot of anything-that's-not-dessert, liquid-like curry, and let slowly simmer, remove the leaf before consumption (technically they are edible).

To impart a more intense bay leaf flavor, crush the leaf prior to usage. However, this makes it difficult to pull out the leaf before eating, so put the crushed leaf in an infuser or muslin bag.

Add a crushed leaf to your next tea infusion, giving it a unique herbal fragrance that is quite delicious.
